Over the past two years or so, it has become evident that there is at least one Irish celebrity partially on our side.
That celebrity being Conor McGregor. He has regularly posted tweets of an Irish nationalist nature even going as far as suggesting it’s time to discuss leaving the European Union.
In his most recent “controversial” tweet, he commented on the Ashling Murphy case. He said replying to a Gript media tweet where Ben Scallan questioned Helen McEntee on her government’s policy of asking migrants to self-deport: “Helen, the lives of our people are at stake. You know this, I know 🙏 RIP Ashling Murphy. Step up here and now and win this, it is right in front of you to win this! Bravo Ben Scallan, from my vantage the only media correspondent on the frontline for the terrified Irish public.”
To add to this, he replied to an Irish Independent article on the profile of Jozef Puska: “A “jobless killer” ushered in with benefits by the Irish Government. Disgraceful! May justice be swift.”
In typical McGregor fashion, the tweets were deleted within a day or so. Something he has become notorious (see what I did there) for. Addressing his reasons for deleting tweets back in November 2021, he was rather frank with journalist Robert Burke who said: “I see Conor McGregor deleted his few tweets that were critical of the Irish government last night. I’m guessing Ireland isn’t going to ‘rise’.” McGregor replied: “Hey, dick breath, you must be new here. I will always say what I need to say, it gets reported/spread, then I remove from my page. Its done and out. I do not like to keep negativity on my channels. Ever. You do zero to help
Anything or anyone in any situation. So shut up.”
With clarification like that from the man himself, what is the problem with him deleting tweets? It’s not as if he is deleting them and immediately issuing an apology and denouncing everything he once stood for like we have seen so many do in the past.
Encouraging people to boycott the only known Irish celebrity echoing our viewpoints is a terrible idea and furthermore to advise people to drink Guinness instead of Forged Stout, knowing Arthur’s Unionist history, is not exactly Irish nationalist behaviour.
At the end of the day, no one man is going to save us but it sure does help having someone with McGregor’s clout (regardless of his many personal blemishes) sharing dissident opinions.
On a personal note, the most annoying thing for me is having to type out the deleted tweets…

Encouraging irish people to boycott drink would have been the british empires worst nightmare.
There is a reason why ireland has pubs, they done the same to the native americans, drunk and stupid is no road to sovereignty.

Mcgregor is an idiot with little to no redeeming qualities. In ireland the biggest idiots are millionaires, look at the political class as an example.
